The Earth moved
Last night I was up browsing on the Internet (as usual), I can’t seem to get to sleep these days, when all of a sudden I could feel everything shake. I thought it was due to me being drowsy or a helicopter that seemed to be flying so low above the house. I perked up and looked around, things were shaking, the ground was shaking! I freaked out, but it stopped a few seconds later. I got up and went into my bedroom. Sean was fast asleep - typical! I assumed the shaking was a result of the helicopter. I woke up Sean to ask if he felt it, he grumpily said no and fell back asleep. I shut down everything in the living room and went to bed. I couldn’t sleep immediately because so many birds outside were causing a ruckus. Again, I assumed it was the helicopter, it scared them. “Chopper coppers”, I said grumpily. “Why do they need to be out so damn late?”.
My sister just messaged me and asked if I had felt the earthquake last night. So it was an earthquake! I suspected this at first. She was staying with her boyfriend down south, I think she felt it more than I did. So yes, I have experienced an earthquake - a first for me. I don’t believe we had one since 2002, that one I slept through. In the UK we don’t seem to get really bad ones, seems to just be tremors. However, it is scary when you haven’t been in one before.
Another thing to strike off on the “things to experience before you die” list, eh?

February 27th, 2008 at 5:03 pmOh my gosh! An actual earthquake! Wow. I’ve never experienced one before. I live not too far from a really bad fault line, so everyone predicts it will happen someday and destroy everything. Fun huh? I’m glad it wasn’t as bad as it could have been for you!
