Love cake!

I have baked a cake today, a Victoria sandwich sort of cake. Above is the end product. Sean wanted me to bake a cake so I made one especially for him. I have been a soppy thing and wrote “I love you” on it, love being the heart. I used icing pens to decorate the cake, along with buttercream for the top. I also added buttercream and strawberry jam/jelly in between the two cakes. This is definitely one for those with a sweet tooth! I’m happy with how it turned out, I’m now quite confident baking cakes and I don’t need to look at a cook book. I now have the recipe in memory. I really want to make a chocolate cake, but I need to get cocoa powder to do so.

Here are a couple more photos.

Thanks! Yes the kitchen smells beautiful when a cake is baking. I couldn’t wait to tuck into it. Needless to say there’s not much of the cake left!
