Dumping pets, disgusting excuses

There is an article on the Daily Mail website today about pets being dumped for shocking reasons, in particular cats.

I have heard a fair few excuses to why people give up their pets, but never because the cat “did not match the carpet”. I am disgusted by this, naturally. Another “gem” is an excuse given by someone to abandon their dog, apparently the dog hurt the owner’s legs when it wagged its tail. Should I be so shocked? People are so quick to dump their pets as if they were rubbish. I know some people take their unwanted animals to a shelter rather than literally dumping them, but still, I am disgusted by the excuses people give to why they can not have their pets anymore. I am glad there are people out there who want to give these abandoned animals a loving home. I am glad not all people are materialistic and inconsiderate.

I would love to adopt a cat, unfortunately I am not allowed a pet at my current home (landlord’s rules). I intend to adopt myself a feline friend when I move. I could give a pet a loving home, I am frustrated that I can’t do so at this point in time. Animals are not play things, they are not rubbish that can be thrown away at any time. It infuriates me hearing about animals being mistreated. If someone cannot commit their time and money to a pet, they should not have one. Simple.

:o oh wow, people can be really stupid with these things :(
I love animals very much, and seeing them being dumped is like… so sad…
well, for those people who dump their pets just so it could match your carpet and everything, they’re also a living organism with feelings!

My heart melted completely when I saw the picture (and read the story) of the little kitten named Sparky on that page. Much sadness…those poor cats. I can’t believe some of those reasons…people can be so heartless!!

I agree, if you can’t afford the money OR the time for a pet then DON’T GET ONE! UGH!

Wow, what awful excuses! I want to get a puppy but I’m in the same boat as you… my landlord doesn’t allow it. We may be getting a house in the next year and you can bet that I am getting a puppy if that happens. I love animals and don’t see how people can treat them so poorly!
