Rejection

I don’t have the job. I just received the letter of rejection. I hate getting these letters, they all say the same thing. “Due to the overwhelming amount of applications we have received, we regret to tell you that you have been unsucessful at this time. Blah blah blah”. Why can’t they just be honest and tell you why you really were rejected? Oh yes, that would be too much like hard work right?

It would have been so much better if they got my name correct, but I suppose that is too much like hard work also. I am not a Miss, as I have clearly stated on my application form, CV and in the interview. It is Williamson, not Williams. Goes to show that some people just do not listen or take note. Bitter? Yes. More so because they couldn’t get a simple thing like my name right. Maybe I had a lucky escape?

Do people get your name incorrect? Does it annoy you? Do you find it unprofessional?

Awww, Sarah, I’m so sorry. *hugs*

People get my name wrong too, even when they’ve known me, or my my mother or father for ages. It annoys me because it isn’t even a very hard name. -.-”

Consider it a lucky escape. :)

People I’ve worked with get my name right. Members of my family, though, are constantly misspelling my name. :( It’s always, “Happy Birthday Chantel!” I don’t know what to think.

This is odd, but I want to be regarded as a “Miss” until I’m middle-aged. Mrs. is too mature for me. It would make me feel ancient. Unless it’s in jest, I even cringe when I hear Miss + my last name.

I’m sure that after this, many doors will be opened for you :)

people don’t really get my name wrong (because it’s only three letters) but I bet it would really annoy me if someone spell it wrong, and I would probably laugh at them for spelling it wrong.

*hugs* Those people sounded lame anyway, especially because they can’t even get a simple detail like a name right! Blah, lucky escape for sure!

You know you make a good point though about rejection letters. At least tell someone if they lacked certain skills or something! Poo on them.

Ugh, that is so rude!
People don’t normally mispronounce my name, but people spell my name with a Y instead of an I. That kills me.

Awww, I’m sorry you didn’t get the job! I hate those letters as well.
People usually mispronounce my surname quite often.

I’ve gotten letters like that before… i just tell myself it’s not because i wasn’t qualified.. it’s just because that many more people are over qualified… and if i were to get one w/ spelling errors on it? I’d tell myself that I wouldn’t want to work for a company like that anyhow. *hugs* you’ll find the perfect job soon!

I’d write to them pointing out their mistakes in their letter to you, and invite them to write back with feedback. Most companies are happy to do that actually.

People spell my name wrong ALL THE TIME. Rachel Furn. Racheal Furn. Rachel Fern. Rachael Fern. Racheal Fearne. It makes me want to stab them… Fortunately, I don’t. I just like to take joy in all the “bounced” emails people get because they can’t type my email address properly. :)

Oh honey people spell my name wrong ALL the time! They always spell my first name with an “h” when there’s a reason behind the spelling of my name. I know exactly how you feel. People can’t even make the effort. It’s really sad.

And at least you get a notification of not getting the job. The last job I applied for didn’t even call me. Yes, I understand if I didn’t get the job but could you at least have the courtesy to call? And I’d love it if people would give you a real reason so you know better in the future.

The unprofessionalism of companies sometimes just makes me want to give up and become a hobo, ya know?

I’m sorry :( To be honest, if they’re that unprofessional a company maybe working for them wouldn’t be a fantastic idea anyway.

One company I worked at spelt my name wrong, it was a tiny mistake (they put my middle initial as N instead of M) so I wouldn’t have minded except that because they paid me in cheques, the bank wouldn’t allow me to cash them with the name wrong! So for about six months I never got paid on time because they didn’t “get round” to fixing the error. Grrr.
