Your Site is Not Valid

Upon my Internet browsing, I came accross this gem of a site, Your Site is Not Valid. Basically it is some Wordpress.com hosted blog created by some anonymous wuss with way too much time on their hands. They go around scouring for sites that are declared as valid, then check that they are really valid. If your site happens to not be valid, your site URL gets posted declaring how full of fail you are.

I browse websites that claim to be valid XHTML or CSS and give them my stamp of Fail when they don’t validate. Simple.

Hopefully this will keep you on yor toes, but mostly I just want to shame you into fixing up your website and exposing your web of lies.

I’m coming for you.

Ooh, let us all quake in our boots! Or not…

What the most amusing thing is that the actual site is in fact not valid, as seen below:

Your Site is Not Valid - not valid!

Surely the genius who created this blog would think to check that their own site is valid before “outing” people, right? Maybe it is a joke blog, maybe not. Still, it is pretty stupid. Shame on you whoever decided that this was a good idea. :p

Haha. That’s funny. :P I hate when people say stuff about someone’s grammar when they can’t spell themselves.

Love the new layout by the way!

Ghahaha, that’s crazy… a bit sad as well… I don’t think someone should have the rights to complain about someone else when you can’t do the same job yourself. Ohh well…

Ugh. That is really dumb. I’m so sick of people attacking other people for having fun web designing. If we made a site about them, it could show them how rude they are and knock that stick right out of their ass.

But… I’m not a hypocrite. So I won’t make one. :p

Come for me when you can tell me how to spell “your”.

People and their sad, miniscule, sorry lives.

I mourn for your loss of a life, dear anonymous website owner, and pray you at some point begin living again, rather than existing through the desperate, small world of bashing people through your computer screen.

Because it doesn’t make you almighty and powerful. It makes you a sad, little man/woman.

Wow… how pathetic.

Those sites were probably valid when they claimed to be, then something messed up their codes and the owners haven’t noticed. I wonder why someone would take pleasure in listing websites with minuscule validation errors. What is there to prove? Gosh…

@Lene: Ooh no, they are evil, bad web designers and LIARS for having sites that are not valid! How dare they have the odd error! It must be PERFECT ALWAYS!

Note the sarcasm there? Hehe.

Bah hah what a loser! Course, I love how MySpace is on there!

Wow.. that’s so lame.

Who really cares if a site is valid?!
Lame, lame, lame. Triple lame.

What a total loser. Someone should stamp his own website with a big, fat FAIL.

Ahahahaha! I love hypocrites sometimes, especially when they bash other people. Practice before you preach…something that isn’t done too often.

His/her grammar is not valid.

Also, all he/she ends up doing is giving people free hits.

Well luckily he hasn’t checked my current css file :P

I am so tempted to fill out his contact form about any sites that are invalid and submit his.

On the one hand, I can see the appeal. See a lot of people put up those validation links to boast about being valid, but a lot fail miserably. Still, to actually dedicate a whole site to this… ZOMG! Invalid site, your webmaster “career” has ended.

@Kirsten There is a few reasons why a valid website is “better” than a non valid website. In random order: SEO, accessibility, cross-browser…

Listing non valid website that claim to be seems a bit weird to me but I guess I am not doing a less weird occupation listing valid sites :p

(I have nothing to do with this “your site is not valid” site for those who are wondering but I think I know where he got his name from)

Any developer worth their salt knows that validation is only a minor part of building a website. Semantics, usability and accessibility are far more important.

Ben

I would say validation is more a tool. A valid site has better chance to be more semantic, accessible and usable than a bad coded one.

You can have those three without valid code but I think it’s a better start to code valid because it will make the job easier at the end. :D

@Cristina: Already been done. Teehee! ;)

Also, all he/she ends up doing is giving people free hits.

@Michelle: Yep, free hits for everyone!

Any developer worth their salt knows that validation is only a minor part of building a website. Semantics, usability and accessibility are far more important.

@Jem: Thank you for mentioning this point. Some people need to get that into their heads.

it would be nicer if he/she looks for websites that are valid but don’t put stuff like “XHTML Valid”
but still, it’s a time waster -_- maybe he shouldn’t have done anything in the first place instead

@Ben: I agree. It is easier in the long run to start with valid coding.

Out of sheer curiosity, I clicked on all the links there, and with one exception they were all valid… so I’d very much like to know what the webmaster’s talking about.
I doubt that absolutely ALL of them validate their sites upon seeing the hits.

someone was bored, (and how old is this person) to make a site like that and then go around find sites to whine about .. and yeah they are getting a lot of hits as well giving..

You know what’s ultimately funny? My site was listed as “invalid” but I have screencaps proving otherwise. Yet, my comment was never published/approved (in the blog) (to prove person wrong). Hmm.

I also have a screencap of my comment awaiting approval. :)
