I have been very busy lately. I have been applying for jobs, I got an interview tomorrow and I have been undertaking some freelance web design work to get a bit of money in. The freelancing is going alright, it is a whole new experience for me. There are heaps of things that you have to consider when freelancing, and it can be quite daunting. I find the following websites very useful and ease the stress of freelancing:

A Comprehensive Guide to Starting your Freelance Career
Sound advice on how to get your foot into the door of freelancing.

101 Essential Freelancing Resources
This is a list of resources that every freelancer should know about. From free invoicing tools to how to draw up a contract.

How to Create a Freelancing Contract
This page came in very useful, at first I was stumped on what the freelancing contract should consist of. By reading this you should be able to come up with a solid contract that will give you and your client peace of mind.

Talk Freelance
This is an online community for freelancers to get together and give advice, discuss projects and drum up new business.

People Per Hour
Find freelancers and freelance work. Freelancers are able to bid for projects proposed by “buyers”. Buyers can leave feedback upon completion of work, freelancers can leave feedback about the buyers. You could say this is an “eBay” of freelancing.

I hope these links will be of assistance if you’re considering taking the leap into freelance work. If you know of any resources I have missed, please share. :)

Oooo Blinksale! If you’re not sending a lot of invoices, it’s free, but if you’re sending more than X per month (3? I forget) they charge you a reasonable fee. You can upload branding images to make your invoices look more professional, and it’s all very organized and easy.

I have a contract I’ve used for the couple of times I’ve done freelance work, and it’s so nice knowing that the client is not allowed to screw you over. Never, ever work without a contract. Somebody could skip town with bills unpaid and you’d have no recourse.

Congrats on the freelance stuff! It takes determination!

These are great. Thanks for sharing these! I’m definitely bookmarking these for future reference. How’s the other job hunt going, btw?

completely off topic, since I’m sure you can tell how I came about your site…I quite like your layout and would love to even have the slightest bit of visual inspiration as you obviously have! It’s rather….tranquil..to say the least. :D
