C is for Christmas

Posted on: October 22, 2008 | Filed in: Personal

I got thinking about the dreaded “C” word today when I got into work. In the staff room a notice was displayed asking us to decide what days we want to work during the festive season. I put my name down for Christmas Eve and New Year’s Day, hopefully I will not be scheduled for Boxing Day (there are no bus services running) since I volunteered for two days. I was dreading Christmas, but now I’m looking forward to it somewhat. The prospect of having some money in the bank helps!

Now that I am working, I am starting to think about what presents to get people. The store I work in is a good start, it sells such awesome stuff. I think I will start buying presents next week when I get paid. Sean and I have been instructed to get a book for my mother and father-in-law, so that’ll save having to brainstorm present ideas for them. I sort of have an idea what to get my siblings and I may get my close friends a little something. I have no idea what to get my parents (Tina - help!). Not sure what to get my brother-in-law and his partner, either.

I have befriended quite a few online people that I would like to send Christmas cards to, that is depending if they trust me with their postal addresses. I am aiming to make cards this year, depending on if I have time. If not, I will find decent alternatives.

What are your plans for Christmas? What are you most looking forward to?

I don’t usually have to spend much at Christmas. I draw things for family and for friends I go halves with someone.

Do something artistic

We got our Christmas announcements at work today as well. On October 31st at 11pm, they are starting what they are calling “October 32nd.” By store open at 7pm on November 1st the ENTIRE STORE is going to be Christmassey, Including the music!

I love Xmas and Xmas music, but I hate my job. I know it’s going to wear me thin pretty fast!

I am looking forward to Christmas this year more than ever, and I have no idea why… although, it is my favorite holiday!

My plans for Christmas: stay home, bake lots of christmas treats, take pictures, sing christmas carols 24/7 and deck the WHOLE house out. Mostly I’m just looking forward to being able to listen/sing christmas songs without this “two months too early” nonsense. :D

Wow, you already have everything planned! I’m still trying to focus on what to wear for Halloween. Hopefully, I’ll be giving all of my friends chocolates for Christmas, and my close friends and family some more expensive than two dollar presents.

Most, though, I was to be giving this Christmas. I’m a bit tired of getting gifts. Good luck with your plans!

I celebrate Hanukkah. But I DO have plans for Christmas: to retrieve my sanity. (I teach, go fiigure!)

I’m sure you’ll have a nice holiday with your hubbie and family.

Omg… where do you work?! I had that exact sign in my staff room…. o_O

I’m tempted to work on Xmas Eve just so I can tell my parents, LOOK HOW MUCH I’M WILLING TO SACRIFICE TO GET TUITION MONEY. But … i might just stay home and watch old movies XD

I’ll most likely be working Christmas Eve as well - it’s good pay (do you get double as well?) though we close on New Year’s Day…

I’m more than likely working Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve, we should be closed on Boxing Day and New Year’s Day (we did last year anyway).

I’ve already bought most of my Christmas presents for family and friends. :)

C is also for Christine! And Cherries! And Carols! And Cats! And Chocolate! I think C is a fabulous letter.

I’m getting a little excited. I always craft like crazy this time of year XD

And I’m having a caroling party where we drink egg nog and spaiced apple cider and sing christmas carols! Luckily I work at a school, so we’re closed for the main holidays and new years. ^^

Happy Friday!

Well the company I work for is open 24/7/365, and they always have sign up sheets for the major holidays but if enough people don’t volunteer to work they make anyone who is normally scheduled for that day come in. I usually work the Holidays.. lots of extra cash!
