Not much has happened recently, I’m still looking for work. There seems to be even less jobs to apply for now. It really is disheartening. The job interview that got cancelled hasn’t been rescheduled. The lady has not got back to me and I have tried calling her but her phone always seems to be off. I have not heard a thing from the agency, either. Times are rough right now.

It is Sean’s birthday on the 27th, I can’t afford to get him anything since I have literally no money. Sean’s parents are kindly going to give Sean some money so we can go out for a meal for his birthday. This will be the first time in months that we have gone out for a meal together. I hope it will do us some good.

I am hoping things look up very soon, but I doubt it. The economy has gone down the pan and rather than hiring workers, companies are having to make them redundant. I really do not see myself finding work anytime soon. I am trying to stay positive, but right now I am in a little slump. I need a job desperately, I am doing all I can. We’re struggling so much, I’m just hoping things can only get better rather than worse.

Lately the mini blogging service Twitter has been having server issues and people have been considering jumping ship. Finding a decent alternative has been easy, thanks to Melissa. She found another mini blogging service called Plurk. Melissa shared the URL with some of us in the Quilting Bee chat room. At first I was skeptical and thought, “oh yet another dull social networking site”. I was wrong, Plurk is far from dull.

It is not just any place where you can send mini updates. Your updates are displayed on a timeline, you can change the wording by choosing a coloured phrase from a drop-down menu, such as “is”, “loves” or “likes”. You can even change the style of your timeline/profile page. There is also a very handy feature where you can organise your friends into “cliques” or groups. You can also be somebodys “fan” or they can be yours.

Another feature that Twitter doesn’t have is the karma system. By posting plurks, replying to peoples plurks and referring friends you can earn karma points. With these points you can have access to new timeline designs and other little characters that you can display in the top right-hand corner of your timeline.

There is a handy Firefox plugin for Plurk which I use, to make the plurking process easier. I have found a Wordpress plugin, too!

If you are tired of Twitter and want something more exciting with heaps more features give Plurk a try.
